Experienced, Resourceful, Relentless, Ready to Fight
A felony charge is a serious matter. The selection of the right defense attorney to represent you cannot be stressed enough. Not all attorneys have the qualifications and experience to handle difficult and complex criminal cases. You need a lawyer who will work tirelessly for you with the goal of obtaining the best possible result. Your attorney must be willing to invest the time and effort needed to investigate the charges against you and prepare a strong and vigorous defense. I will put my 28 years of felony defense experience to work for you. Thorough preparation is the policy that I follow in every case.
A Personal Approach
A felony arrest is a traumatic and stressful event in a person’s life. A criminal conviction has the potential of resulting in the loss of your freedom. It may affect your future career prospects, earning ability, family relationships, friendships, reputation, and standing in the community. I understand the emotional impact that the criminal process has on each of my clients, and take a personal interest in my clients’ welfare. I can assist you in dealing with the complexities of the criminal justice system and obtaining the best possible outcome. When you retain the Law Offices of Dennis C. Belli, you can feel confident knowing that you will have an experienced and capable attorney to stand by your side during every stage of the court proceedings.
Always Serving the Interests of the Client
My style is to do what is best for the client, not what is easiest for the attorney. If this means preparing your case for trial and allowing the jury to decide the truth of the charges, I will go the distance for the client. I have defended hundreds of clients facing felony charges in Central Ohio common pleas courts. I have tried more than 100 cases to a jury and obtained not guilty verdicts for many of my clients. I pride myself on being well versed in the law and facts. I devote a tremendous amount of time in developing the strategies and tactics that give my clients the best chance of winning their cases.
Exploring All Alternatives for a Just Result
Although I am a firm believer in the constitutional right to trial by jury, I know from experience that not every client should take his chances with a jury trial. In many instances, the client’s interests will best be served by negotiating a resolution without a trial. This is commonly referred to as plea bargaining. The goal of plea bargaining is to obtain a reduction in the severity of the charges and concentrate on presenting the judge with favorable sentencing alternatives. This is an alternative that I explore with every client. I present my recommendations to the client, including the advantages and disadvantages of the prosecutor’s offer.
Unfortunately some attorneys pressure their clients into accepting a plea deal that they later regret. It is my firm policy that the decision is one for the client to make, voluntarily and with a full understanding of the consequences. I will never bargain away your constitutional rights to avoid the effort and expense of a trial.
